Pastor, Rev. Todd Starnes-Williams
It is my very real pleasure to announce that we are so blessed to have a new pastor at Westminster PC. Well, he's not really new as he's been working with us for almost two years, but as of November 23, 2019, Rev. Todd Starnes-Williams passed his examination by PC(USA)'s Committee on Preparation for Ministry and was recommended for membership to the Presbytery of New Covenant. This has allowed Todd to officially become our new pastor for Westminster Presbyterian Church, Galveston. Alan and Sharon Tipton, along with Trish Beach, were present at the examination to offer encouragement.
If you don't know anything about Todd, I can tell you, he is really God's servant. He is a solid disciple, a compassionate, care preaching man (without notes), with a good sense of humor and so fitting to lead us. In his short life he has experienced many things, such that I don't think anything would shock him, and he certainly does not judge. He will be working as our part-time pastor for Westminster and simultaneously as a Hospice Chaplain for Houston Hospice. He recently retired from serving on the Alum Board for Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (two years as the Board President), and currently serves on the University of Houston's United Campus Ministries of Greater Houston Board.
Todd received his Masters of Divinity Degree from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1999, was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that same year.
Originally from a small town, Spencer, Indiana, Todd attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where he studied Business Marketing. Additionally he studied Clinical Pastoral Education at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, KY, and at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
He's also a wonderful photographer. If you see his photography you will see things through "new eyes." Once you hear Todd speak, you won't forget him! To hear some of Todd's thoughts, go to his blog, "While in God's Grip," published online at www.stayingodsgrip.com. To which, apropos, he signs off, "Stay in God's grip!" Kinda catchy, don't you think?
